SS JEREMIAH O'BRIEN
The S.S. JEREMIAH O'BRIEN, home-ported in San
Francisco, is the only other operational Liberty Ship in the world.
SS AMERICAN VICTORY
The American Victory Mariners Memorial and
Museum Ship honors the men and women who valiantly served our country
both in times of war as well as in times of peace. The S.S. AMERICAN
VICTORY operates from Tampa, Florida.
SS LANE VICTORY
The S.S. LANE VICTORY is a fully operational
World War II Victory Ship located at Berth 94, San Pedro, California.
SS RED OAK VICTORY
The S.S. RED OAK VICTORY, launched in 1944,
is the last surviving Victory Ship built at the Kaiser/Richmond
shipyards. She is berthed in Richmond, California, where she is
undergoing restoration to operating condition.
United States Merchant Marine Veterans
Dedicated to the merchant mariners who died
in the service of their country during all wars, including the
Revolutionary War, World War II, Korea and Vietnam, and their U.S.
Naval Armed Guard shipmates.
United States Naval Armed Guard Veterans
They were NOT guards. They were U.S. Navy
personnel consisting of gunners, radiomen and signalmen serving at sea
on merchant ships. The merchant marine operated the ships while the
Armed Guard provided gunnery protection and communications services.
The JOHN W. BROWN Alumni Association
These alumni attended the only maritime high
school in the world.

Naval Historical Detachment - Baltimore
The mission of the Naval Historical Detachment
is to authentically recreate the appearance and activities of sailors
who served our county in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard during World
War II, as well as during the pre-war and post-war periods. We strive to
educate the public as to how these sailors lived, the duties they
performed, the ships and bases on which they served, the tools of their
trade, the missions they under took, and the sacrifices they made.
Rosie the Riveter Memorial
The Rosie the Riveter Memorial: Honoring American
Women's Labor during World War II, celebrates and interprets the crucial
contributions of women to the World War II home front effort. During
World War II over six million women contributed to the war effort by
working at industrial jobs, replacing men who were in military service.
The iconic "Rosie the Riveter" provided a nickname for all women who worked
in wartime industries. The Memorial is located in Richmond, California, at
the site of the former Kaiser Company shipyards.
USS SLATER DE-766
USS SLATER is a World War II destroyer
escort moored on the Hudson River in Albany, New York. She is the only
destroyer escort that remains afloat in the United States.
USS LST Ship Memorial
Dedicated to all LSTs and to those who sailed
them. A volunteer crew sailed LST 325 from Greece to the United States
in 2000 to great public notice. LST 325 is home-ported on the Ohio
River in Evansville, Indiana, where many LSTs were built during World
War II.
Historic Naval Ships Association
The purpose of the Historic Naval Ships
Association (HNSA) is to facilitate information exchange and provide
mutual support among organizations that are working to preserve and
maintain historic naval vessels. The member ships of the Association,
now numbering more than 150, including the S.S. JOHN W. BROWN, are located
throughout the world.
National Maritime Historical Society
The National Maritime Historical Society is
dedicated to raising the awareness of America's seafaring heritage.
The Society is active in the field of historic ship preservation,
actively promotes education projects to acquaint young people with
their country's maritime heritage, and publishes Sea History,
a quarterly journal about maritime history, the maritime industry,
and maritime museums and preservation projects.
World Ship Trust
The World Ship Trust is dedicated to the
recognition of, and support for, historic vessels. The Trust
recognizes nationally significant achievement in the cause of
historic ship preservation through its International Maritime
Heritage Award. The World Ship Trust so honored the S.S. JOHN W. BROWN
in 2003.
Steamship Historical Society
The Steamship Historical Society is dedicated
to preserving artifacts and memories from the steamship days of the
past. Its mission is to make available steamship information and to
encourage conservation efforts. The Society honored Project Liberty
Ship in 2000 with its C. Bradford Mitchell Award that recognizes
achievements contributing to the goals of the Society.
Mid-Atlantic Air Museum
The mission of the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum
is to ensure the professional stewardship of an aircraft collection
that reflects the history of aviation and to enhance the public's
appreciation and understanding of that history. The Museum's
collection emphasizes the Mid-Atlantic region's unique contribution
to flight, but is broad enough to chronicle a general history of
aviation, including military aviation. The Museum sponsors an
annual World War II Weekend in June, the largest and best-known
commemoration of the life and times of World War II.
YAGRs Association
The YAGRs Association commemorates the U.S.
Navy's radar picket ships, known by the classification YAGR (later
AGR). These ships, eventually sixteen in number, all of which were
converted Liberty ships, faithfully served as seagoing electronic
eyes and ears for the Navy between 1955 and 1965.
Amphibious Forces Memorial Museum
The Amphibious Forces Memorial Museum, located
in Astoria, Oregon, is dedicated to the preservation of the history of
the amphibious forces in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam, including
the restoration and preservation of the LCI 713 and the USS
WASHTENAW COUNTY (LST 1166).
Baltimore Maritime Museum
The mission of the Baltimore Maritime
Museum is to preserve, exhibit and interpret its four National
Historic Landmarks and associated artifacts for the purpose of
public enrichment, education, historic preservation and historic
research. The Baltimore Maritime Museum's historic holdings include
the USCG Cutter TANEY, the submarine USS TORSK, the lightship CHESAPEAKE,
and the Seven Foot Knoll Chesapeake Bay lighthouse.
National Historic Seaport of Baltimore
The mission of the National Historic Seaport of
Baltimore is to unify the maritime history treasures of Baltimore Harbor
for the purposes of historic preservation, economic development and tourism
and to create living classrooms for experiential education, job training
and workforce development.
USS CONSTELLATION
USS CONSTELLATION, the last all-sail
warship built by the US Navy and the last Civil War-era vessel
still afloat, is open to the public as a museum in Baltimore's
Inner Harbor.
Tugboat BALTIMORE
Built in 1906 by the Skinner Shipbuilding
Company in Baltimore, Maryland, the harbor inspection tug
BALTIMORE is the oldest operating steam- powered, coal-fired
tugboat in the country. Registered as a National Historic Landmark,
BALTIMORE represents a generation of vessels that revolutionized
the world's harbors. The tug is maintained as an operating floating
exhibit by the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
Sail Baltimore
Sail Baltimore provides a free, annual
program of visiting ships and maritime events. As if visiting an
ever-changing museum in the harbor, residents and visitors alike
can learn about different cultures, interact with people from around
the world, and learn about navigation, geography, technology, and
maritime history. Through Sail Baltimore's efforts, an average of
two dozen ships visit Baltimore's waterfront each year, including
international tall ships, military vessels, educational and
environmental ships.
United States Merchant Marine Academy
The United States Merchant Marine Academy
is one of five U.S. service academies. Its mission is to prepare
young men and women to serve the nation as shipboard officers in
the merchant marine and to serve as leaders in the transportation
field to meet the challenges of the present and the future.
Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies
MITAGS provides a quality and cost effective
training curriculum for marine professionals. Students come from the all
sectors of the industry including deepsea, pilot, inland/coastal, cruise,
military, and government.
The National Maritime Law Enforcement Academy
The National Maritime Law Enforcement Academy
promotes and produces training programs designed to provide law
enforcement officers or agents with the training and experience necessary
to conduct professional, safe and effective operations afloat. Students
learn to increase their level of awareness and confidence in handling
the most difficult and challenging of situations they are likely to
encounter. Further, the Academy assists law enforcement agencies in
developing a properly equipped and highly trained staff to better serve
and protect their communities.

associations and organisations connected to the British Merchant Navy. Its goal
