Gordon was a member of the deck department aboard SS JOHN W. BROWN who served 24 years as a Baltimore County police officer. He was a World War II veteran of both the U.S. merchant marine and the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, also a long-time Project Liberty Ship volunteer,three sons, five grandsons and two great grandchildren.
