11/1/1919 - Born in Secretary, Maryland.

12/7 1936 - Went to sea on his first vessel at age 19, serving time on the Chesapeake Bay and Delaware Bay plus inland waterways south to Savannah.

1940 - Married Nelle Raye Eubanks.

1941 - Obtained his Diesel Engineers license in 1941. He sailed coastwise between New York and Jacksonville. During this time he made one trip on a Liberty Ship. After this trip he signed on with the Army Transportation Service based at Hawkings Point and later transferred to New Orleans, sailing inter-island class ships. He was Chief Engineer aboard ST-935 in 1945.

March 1946 - Left the sea to work for Bethlehem Steel Co. hot strip mill.

1976 - Retired after 30 years of service.
