Craig was a Maryland State Police cadet for almost three years. Injuries in an automobile accident forced him from that career, after which he became an emergency medical technician and cardiac rescue technician. That in turn led to his service as a paramedic with the Baltimore Fire Department.

As the BROWN's medical officer, Craig has been able to give help and comfort to many sick or injured passengers and crew mates on cruises. His jokes, generally of somewhat dubious taste, liven up the routine moments for his shipmates. He and Joey Middleton, another BROWN medical officer, were married aboard the ship in 2002.

Elected to the Board of Directors of Project Liberty Ship in 2005, Craig views his opportunity to work on a Liberty ship as an important priviledge.
